Showing Sis the Ropes {Leslie}

[Miley Riddle]

Miley rolled her eyes as she walked into the library. She'd come here figuring her brainiac sister would be here somewhere. Miley still had trouble believing Leslie was a Riddle. Made no sense. Miley plopped down in a chair and put her boots up on the table, leaning back abit in her chair. When people looked over at her she just rolled her eyes or gave them an evil look.

Leslie was indeed reading a book. It was some sort of history book about Hogwarts, but it wasn't as interesting as she'd thought it would be. The minute details were a little too...minute for her. There wasn't enough room for her imagination to work. It was just plain fact. She sat in an armchair, reading the book silently, until she heard someone enter the library and plop down in a chair somewhere on the other side of the room. For some reason, she instinctively knew it as her sister. She bounded to her feet and went to the other side of the room, then stood in front of Miley. "Hey," She said, smiling happily.

Miley smirked abit when she heard the familiar little voice of Leslie. She looked up and said," Hey there Lessy." Mil had always called her little sister Lessy. Sometimes it got on her nerves and other times it didn't. They were both unpredicatable.

"Have a seat. I knew I'd find you here. Find any good books?" Miley always asked Les about books, not that she was really interested in them. She just didn't want her little sister to turn out like her. That's why she never let Lessy anywhere near their father.

"It's Leslie, sis, Leslie" Leslie said, poking her sister, but she wasn't really frustrated. She hugged Miley briefly before sitting in a chair. "Well, I've only been here about five minutes. Do you always have to barge into the library just as I'm getting into a book?" She was only joking of course. On the contrary, Leslie respected her sister greatly...most of the time.

Leslie looked among the magnificent shelves of the library. There were so many books here, while there had been so few at home.

Miley rolled her eyes, thankful that the hug Les had given her had been brief. "I'll call you whatever I want. I'm older here." She smirked and nodded slowly. "Yes, I do. It's my job you know. To bug you whenever you find a book of interest. Anyway, how do you like Hogwarts so far?" Miley knew the school's Library was huge, especially compared to the one shelf full back home. It was her little sisters dream come true. She never had to walk three miles to the nearest book store ever again.

"I like it. Better than home. " She said, and looked as if she wasn't going to continue, but then started back up again, "The library's amazing, I think I'm gonna check out the forbidden forest soon...the only thing wrong with this place is the lake," She muttered. Leslie couldn't swim. Not for anything. She didn't plan on going near the lake anytime soon. There were too many older (mostly Slytherin) students that would find it amusing to push her in and watch her panic helplessly in the lake, drowning. Leslie suppressed a shudder at the thought. She knew it could happen. "What do you think of Hogwarts?" Leslie asked brightly.

"The lake isn't going to swallow you. I don't know why you have something against water, but whatever." Miley, unlike her younger sister, was a fish in water. Right at home. Whenever she was bored, no matter how cold it was, she'd go swimming. There'd been a lake at home, but it was a mile and a half from their cabin. So, Hogwarts having a lake was pretty cool for her.

" You know I didn't want to come here. Still think this place sucks. Don't know why you made me come." Leslie had recieved her letter first, but she'd had to take care of muggle school things before she was able to come. Miley still couldn't understand why she let her sister talk her into coming to this dumb place. Yet there she sat in Hogwarts library. Miley muttered something to herself and looked around.

Still, Leslie couldn't get over her fear of water. There had been one time she had went to the lake moderately near their house, and the moment she had the courage to step in, panic set in. If it wasn't for her dog, she could have drowned. Leslie never told Miley this however, and didn't plan to.

"I couldn't leave you at home," Leslie said, as if she was the one looking after Miley. "You'll get used to it." She said, pausing. "Won't you?"

Miley rolled her eyes and leaned back abit farther in her chair. "Firstly, you know you could have left me at home and should have. Secoundly, I'll have to get used to it. I don't trust you being here alone. The only reason I'm here is to protect you."

Miley always felt like she had to protect Leslie from everything. She'd even gotten into the habit of leaving a hunting rifle over the cabin door just in case something or someone tried to get into the house. She'd taken the time to teach Les how to use it. The only thing Miley was paronoid about was Leslie, the only thing she had.

Leslie knew all too well how protective Miley was of her. Most of the time she wasn't bothered by it, but at times she got frustrated. It was probably a good thing Miley was protecting her though. It wasn't that she couldn't fight or use magic or anything, it was just she almost always seemed to be in danger in some way. Being a ten-year-old at Hogwarts and somewhat short for her age, she was prone to getting picked on and get into fights. Already in the short time she had been here, she had barely avoided getting into one. Leslie's temper could flare up at unexpected times, but she had managed to calm herself down this time. She couldn't stand people teasing her. And she was curious and daring, which made her go places where others wouldn't. Already Leslie knew that she would spend a lot of time in the Forbidden Forest. She imagined it would be like the forest at home, where she could let her imagination wander, and she could fight imaginary creatures. But there were real, evil at times things in that forest. Even so, Leslie was adventurous.

"You don't have to protect me all the time... And just give Hogwarts a chance, you'll meet friends here, don't you want friends?" Leslie asked.

[Miley Riddle]

"Look I do need to protect you. Just rememeber who's raised you." Miley thought for a moment. Then shook her head. " Let me ask you something Lessy. Back home do you remember me ever having friends? Name one time I had a friend and we'll call it even." Mile leaned back her chair so far that normally she would have fallen over, but her boots were digging into the table. That helped her keep her balance.

Leslie thought a moment. "I was your friend. Well I still am. I think." Leslie said, looking confused for a moment. "Well, Hogwarts is a much bigger place. There's a lot more people here. Come on, why wouldn't anyone be your friend?" She asked incredulously.

[Miley Riddle]

Miley smiled alittle at her sisters innocence. "Well, Les, I'm not like you. You're a natural sweetie. You're gonna be popular here. You know me. I'm not open, rude, stubborn as all heck, and you know I get angry easily. I'll make more enemies in my time here then you will in your entire life. I'm not exactly a pack animal." She smirked abit.

"Well if you're so determined about that maybe you should sit on your bed and stay far away from anyone else and do Divination homework all year, since there seems that there's no hope for you," Leslie said sarcastically. She wondered if she had gone too far, but didn't regret what she said.

Miley lifted her boots off the table, making the chair fall back to the ground with a loud thud. Then she looked at her sister. "People will just have to deal with me. You just remember who's four years older here." With that Miley reached over and gently, but firmly, gave Leslie a slap on the back of the head.
