Escaping

[Miley Riddle]

Miley smiled abit as she walked down to the lake. She hadn't had a chance to see the lake yet and she was quite excited. Swimming was her hobby. Well, one of them. It was one of the ways she was able to escape. She didn't know anyone here except her little sister, Leslie. So, it wasn't like she had friends to hang with.

She stopped by a tree and pulled her shirt and jeans off to reveal a purple bikini. Miley was a great swimmer. Back in the muggle world she'd even been on a free style swim team. For awhile anyway. She ended up quiting because her coach had tried to make it a team thing and Miley didn't work well with most people.

After taking a minute to stretch out she walked into the lake, stopping when she could no longer touch the floor. Her goal was to make it to the middle of the lake and back again. That would be a good start. So she started swimming toward the middle. She had a powerful stroke and reached the middle in five minutes flat. She did a quick turn and headed back to the shore.

When she got to the shore she grabbed a towel and, as she tried to catch her breath, started to dry off. Miley didn't notice someone near by.

A few people came walking swiftly in view, along with Leslie. She had no idea whatsoever of Miley being there. "Come on, genius, let's see you doggy paddle in the lake," Said a Slytherin who looked to be a few years older than her. Maybe Miley's age. "I'm going, freak!" Leslie shouted back turning around and pushing the guy before continuing on.

Her fear was temporarily forgotten as she neared the lake. That is, until she got to the edge and looked into it's depths. She hadn't been this close to a large formation of water in years. "Scared? Ya better go back and study for the exam. It's the only thing you're good at, isn't it?" Said a Slytherin girl, probably a year older than her. Leslie's eyes narrowed and she took off her backpack and threw it on the ground a few feet away from her. The water was still and calm, but Leslie knew it was deceiving her. "Go ahead already..." Groaned the Slytherin girl.

Somehow they had found out that Leslie was afraid of water, and since it seemed to be their job to torment people, they had found her and relentlessly teased her as she was working on homework. Finally she wasn't able to stand it anymore, and she couldn't back down from a dare. She never had. And I never will She thought to herself, determined. And yet there she stood, unmoving, staring at the water in front of her. It looked as if it was pretty deep.

"Too bad. Let's go guys. Smartness can't swim. Pretty sad." The Slytherin guy said. Leslie thought about fighting him, but he was older than her, and there were three of them. At least they were going to leave her alone now. She started to turn around when she felt herself being pushed into the lake. The first thing she noticed was it was cold. The second thing she noticed was that she hadn't taken a very good breath before plunging in. Panic overcoming her, she breathed in. She closed her mouth immediately, lungs already aching for air. Leslie opened her eyes underwater, trying to see how deep she was. She was slowly sinking, but she could clearly see the sun's rays beating on the surface. It seemed as if all time was frozen. She felt her vision start to cloud over as she had no breath left in her. Would it all be over soon? She drifted into unconsciousness.

((I got a little carried away lol, but I can't stand not having action of some sort. Ahh! ))

Miley heard alot of noise near by. Curiousity over coming her she looked over just in time to see a Slytherin boy push Leslie into the lake. Big mistake on his part. "Stupid kids." She muttered throwing her towel down.

Then she ran over and glared at the small group of Slytherins. "None of you move. Move and so help me I'll make you all have a permanent home in that lake." With that Miley turned to the lake. She jumped in and spotted Leslie near by. With a few powerful strokes she was beside her sister. She put an arm around her and pulled her to shore.

Once there she checked to make sure Lessy was still alive. She was. Miley glared at the Slytherins, who were all staying perfectly still. Most of them had already heard about Miley Riddle. What could she say? It was Hogwarts.

Turning back to her sister she gave Leslie a gentle slap across the face. "Leslie, wake your sorry butt up and tell me which one of these twerps was bothering you." Miley knew she sounded rude, cruel even, but a sister had to do what a sister had to do. She knew Leslie would understand. People who messed with her little sister were in for a world of hurt. It had been that way from the start.

Suddenly one of the kids started to run away. The Slytherin girl that had teased Leslie. The other two stayed however, unsure of what to do. For a moment Leslie stayed unconscious, not breathing. When Miley lightly slapped her, Leslie started coughing up water weakly. She gulped in the sweet air she thought she would never breathe again. Slowly she opened her eyes, everything seemed blurry. She could hear her sister say something but didn't know what she said. After she got enough air Leslie managed to say softly, "Huh?"

"Hold on Les." Miley stood up and took her wand from her pocket. Pointing it at the running Slytherin she hissed,"Stupefy." Now that the girl was stunned Miley glarred at the other two Slytherins. "Care to join your friend?" She asked in a dangerous tone. Not taking her eyes off the two she spoke to Leslie. "Leslie, hun, you alright? Which twerp was bothering you?" Miley only said 'hun' when she was highly angry either with Leslie or someone bothering Leslie.

"That one.." Leslie replied, looking at a boy who now bit his lip worriedly. Actually, all three of them had been bothering her, but she felt pity on the ones who had to endure the wrath of her sister. The one who had been bothering her the most and pushed her in; he was the only one that Leslie would mention. She was still breathing heavily and was rather weak. "Don't hurt him too bad," Leslie said quietly, as if this happened all the time.

An evil smile spread across Miley's face and her hazel eyes turned a deep red color. She walked up and, in one swift motion, pinned the boy against a tree. Her wand against his throat she hissed," Do you know who you just messed with? That brainiac over there is Leslie Riddle and you know who I am? Miley Sonyador Riddle. Ya scared yet twerp?"

"N-No-Yes-Yeah-lemme go." Stuttered the boy, kicking at Miley. Leslie brought herself into a sitting position, slowly gathering her strength back. "Remember what I said, Miley," Leslie called, rolling her eyes. She knew Miley could get carried away.

"Stay out of this Less. This boy is getting on my nerves." Miley pushed her wand into his throat abit harder. "Let's see how smart you are. You know what I'm thinking right now?" She smirked, dangerously. Oh boy, he'd crossed the line. Gone way too far. She was really mad now.

[Leslie Riddle]

Leslie got to her feet shakily, still in shock after nearly drowning. The other boy glared at her before starting to sprint away, hoping Miley wouldn't notice. The poor Slytherin that was slammed against a tree whimpered slightly and shook his head. Leslie sighed and fingered her wand to make sure it was still there and hadn't fallen out. She picked up her back pack and hauled it over to a bench, then sat there wearily.

"Course not. To let you know I was thinking it's time for twerp to take a swim." She smirked and turned around, still gripping the front of the Slytherin's shirt. Then she threw him into the lake, not too far out. All that working out really was helping. Then she turned to the Slytherin trying to run away. Pointing her wand at him she hissed,"Stupefy." Once that was taken care of she slipped her wand into her pocket. Smiling she sat down next to her sister. "You alright Les?" She asked, putting an arm around her sister's shoulders.

Leslie turned and hugged her sister. "I'm fine. Thanks," She said, then turned back to the lake. Leslie watched the Slytherin sink for a moment, frozen with the stupefy spell. "Miley, you're gonna kill him..." Leslie said, shaking her head slightly. "Get him out now," She ordered, as if she'd become the boss.

Miley rolled her eyes. "Fine, but only because I don't want ot argue with you." She pulled her wand back out and pointed it at the boy. "Hey wait...brainiac you do it." Miley stuck her wand back into her pocket, a smirk on her face. In her mind she was the only one allowed to call Leslie 'Brainiac'. Simple as that.

Leslie rolled her eyes too, and pulled out her wand. "Watch this..." She said, a temporary smirk on her face. There were few times when you could clearly see the evil streak in her. She muttered a spell and the boy came flying up out of the lake. He hovered above it for a moment, and people surrounding the lake were staring dumbfounded at him. With a little laugh, she flicked her wrist and he shot across the lake and rolled around in the grass a moment before coming to a stop. He slowly got to his feet. "Think he'll bother me anymore?" Leslie asked her sister.

A small laugh escaped Miley's lips as she watched her sister's work. When Leslie was done Miley replied," Not if he knows what's good for him. Plus I'm sure he'll help spread the word. Certainly no one else will bother you anytime soon. But if they do just give me a call and I'll be there in a sec. I don't want you getting into a fight. I'll do the fighting, you deal with the school work." Miley smirked and patted Lesy on the head, rather gently.
